McDougall-McConaghy, the partnership that designed, builds and distributes the dominant Mach2 Moth are to be the title sponsor for this year’s Moth World Championships hosted by Kaneohe Yacht Club, in Hawaii in October 2013.

Andrew McDougall says “ We have a tradition of helping out at Moth World Championships where we provide on-site servicing for the sailors, and its great to be in a position to invest still further in the class we love. The Moth class has quickly become the darling of the sailing world with a wonderful mix of people from Olympic sailors thru Americas Cup, to the solid guys and girls who sail day in, day out and are just as passionate about the Moth as we are. It’s a wonderful mix, and for us the highlight of any year”.

With the event following on just after the Americas Cup, this coming Moth World Championships could see the most diverse and talented line up of sailors ever seen in one class, and the beautiful Kaneohe Yacht club provides the perfect stage for such dramatic play.

Jono Morris of McConaghy reflects “We’ve built over 300 Mach2’s at our Zhuhai plant in China. It has been our privilege to watch them occupy the top positions at all World Championships since 2009. Our founder John McConaghy built and sailed Moths and to this day we remain committed to building the fastest Moths and leading development. We are delighted to be able to contribute to the success of this coming regatta. We wish all competitors the very best of luck”.

With up to 100 Moths from Australia, New Zealand, Europe, Japan, the US, and elsewhere expected to descend on Kaneohe Yacht club, USA Moth Class President and event organiser Matt Knowles is excited - “Everything is coming together for a great event. With its flat waters and solid trade winds, Kaneohe Bay might be the best venue in the world for Moth racing. A number of the best sailors in the world will be attending, and we’re going to put on a great show. It will be fantastic to work with McDougall-McConaghy to support our event – we’re looking forward to a top-notch regatta.”

Japan Nationals 2012 (English)

JMCA Japan national championship 2012 was consisted brilliant 7 races at Beach's marina, Lake Hamana in 20-21 Oct.
Day 1 was light breeze, marginal foiling condition means light weight sailor had great advantage. New comer Masa Suzuki won
this race and he showed his potential in following races as well.
RC waited till 3pm for 2nd race though, not enough wind to start, and hoisted AP/A flag.
AS you can imagine, better breeze came after the flag, and unsatisfied mothies out and enjoyed ideal 10-12 knot training for tomorrow.

Day 2 started with 10-12 knots from west, and Hiroki Goto won race 2 followed by Masa and Tatsuya Wakinaga. Breeze built up gradually,
2 more races in the morning won by Tatsu, who is current national title holder.
After lunch break, RC did 3 more races and all the rest, Tatsu dominated by his great speed and skill.
Championship ended Tatsu's victory 2 times in a row. Hiroki was 2nd and Masa was 3rd.
All 13 participants were quite happy with solid 7 races and celebrated winner.

Lake hamana and Beach's marina is definitely best location for foiling moth in Japan.
JMCA appreciated to all the staff and volunteer, to great races and great party.
Perfect condition is promised so next national 2013 will be in here again.
